The writer has gained credibility because she uses herself, and giver her own opinions to support her arguments. Her use of herself when saying Republicans shouldn't overhaul the government, and then saying "I confess that I was one of these" makes one instantaneously trust Parker. One can understand her view and where she comes from because she makes herself seem like a clueless reader too. Her piece is convincing because she says that Obama claims that people hate his policies and not him. She turns around and says " But Obama is his policies" which convinces anyone because she uses a logical argument. This piece is directed a little towards Obama's lies in his presidency, and could be considered one-sided, but rightfully so. She does not make up ideas, but instead quotes from reputable sources. The author's intention is to help America to get the best future President possible. She wants to convince Americans to not be so foolish. She says people are "being insulted and misled... by this administration" and quotes the Affordable Care Act. This created trust in her as she is not just saying this for the fun of it.
The author wants to create an emotional effect of anger through her piece. She says that many of the Congress men feel like Americans are stupid, but " contrary to what Obama White House thinks, [they] are not stupid." She wants her readers to feel angry that they were tricked into accepting a healthcare plan, that has a hidden tax attached to it. She wants to convince her readers to pay more attention to politics since it may affect them in ways that will hurt them. She wants her readers to really take an active role in the coming election. Her main purpose in writing the article is to "stop executive overreach and disinformation to sway votes while betraying voters." which is clearly going on in America today.
I think a lot of Americans will be offended by the column since she clearly points out the flaws in their voting. She does not do this out of meanness, but to simply make them aware. I have learned that there are a lot if dirty tricks in politics going on today, and that it must be stopped. I never knew the full extremity of Obama Care.
